I must say this is has been a long time in the making, mostly in my head. I've always loved to design and drafting my own patterns and after taking a couple of classes from Eryn Shields of Style Sew Me, I finally was able to get to the point where I could launch my own pattern.
The Adanna Flounce Skirt, I named this one after my daughter.
This skirt is made from a woven fabric. It features a back zipper, waistband, slit and flounce at the front of the skirt. If desired you can omit the flounce.
In this post I will share the steps to construct the skirt.
Lay pattern pieces and cut your desired size.
Cut front and back pieces
Cut flounce and waistband. Add interfacing to waistband.
Serge edges and sew darts. Sew center front seams together stopping at notch for front slit. Finish front slit by turning half inch and topstitching.
Serge and hem bottom of flounce, then add flounce to front of skirt.
Install zipper on back of skirt. Use an invisible zipper foot to install the invisible zipper.
Use a regular zipper foot to finish the seam from the end of the zipper all the way to the hem. (I am using a very long zipper in this pic)
Attach front and back at sides with flounce in between.
Attach waistband to skirt.
Finish ends of waistband.
Turn, top stitch and add closures to waistband.
Finish edges of hem, turn up 1 inch and hem your skirt.
Till next time
